Gunman kills 14 people and wounds 25 others at Prague university


The tragic shooting at a university in Prague, Czech Republic killed 14 people and wounded 25 others on Tuesday, December 20th. The shooter, a 24-year-old student at the university, opened fire with a handgun in the Portfolio building at the University’s Teaching and Research Center. Police stated that he shot both randomly and deliberately before taking his own life. The victims of the shooting included six students, six staff members, and two visitors.

The motive for the shooting is still unknown, but authorities have stated that the shooter owned several firearms legally. This incident has shaken the nation and sparked a debate over gun control. The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, said the shooting was “truly tragic”. He also said he wanted to focus on ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
