Khashoggi’s widow wins political asylum in the United States

Yes, Hatice Cengiz, the widow of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, has been granted political asylum in the United States. In December 2020, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security granted Cengiz asylum “on the basis of a well-founded fear of persecution on account of her political opinion”. Cengiz had been outspoken in her criticism of the Saudi government’s role in her late husband’s murder and had been in talks with lawmakers in the U.S. in an effort to promote justice for his death.
