On June 19th, 2019, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA) was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer called a hematologic malignancy. Scalise said in a statement that he would begin treatment immediately and that he was “eager to return to work as the House Majority Leader.” Scalise is expected to make a full recovery.
