Southwest Airlines is now limiting a service that lets passengers buy a better spot in the boarding line

The airline, which had been offering certain customers an opportunity to pay an additional fee to upgrade their boarding positions, said it is now halting these upgrades until further notice. The airline had been trying to make sure that its most loyal passengers have benefited from this purchase option. Southwest also said that it was also suspending usage of its EarlyBird Check-in service, which allows customers to pay a fee to get an earlier spot in the boarding line. These changes were made to help support social distancing and ensure that customers can board in a safe and timely manner.
