As the UAW strike against General Motors enters its second week, the union has announced new picketing locations. UAW locals at factories across the country are joining the strike. The new locations include the GM Technical Center in Warren, Michigan; the GM Lansing Delta Township Assembly plant in Michigan and GM Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City, Kansas. Other picketing sites include GM Fort Wayne Assembly in Indiana, GM Powertrain in Warren, Michigan, and an engine plant in Tonawanda, New York. The UAW is striking in response to GM’s plans to shutter three US factories and cut more than 14,000 jobs, splintering decades worth of collective bargaining agreements. The strike began on September 16 and has seen no shortage of energy from the tens of thousands of UAW members on the picket lines.
